Success is something that takes a lot of hard work. To actually be "On the Grind" you have to have determination to succeed and to be on top, right? So how do you do this when there are so many people out there looking for the same thing?
I would like to think that anyone can be successful, but it is true that some have a better chance than others. Daddy's income, attending a prestigious school, or who you know are factors that seem to have a lot of say in determining someones success. Although, this is true, they are not the only things that create success.
Opportunity plays a huge role in "Making it". Opportunities arise throughout everyones lives. It is up to each of us to recognize them for ourselves, and make them work in our own favor. It is true that someone with a bit more money is able to open more doors for themselves with a little cash- and its a little obvious that someone with a degree from Harvard can be more eligible for a job than a high school dropout, but each of us is given something to work with. Each of is given the tools to blaze our trail- some just might be longer than others, but either way it gets us somewhere.
I'm slowly learning how to utilize my skills and the resources around me to create my own opportunities. Also, when I'm lucky enough to get one, I'm taking every opportunity offered. I mean, why not? You never know the next phone-call, or job offering, or workshop could make all the difference.
Consistence is also important. I read in the Malcolm Gladwell book Outliers that to be a "Master" at something, there is a 10,000 hour rule. A what?
Basically it is a study that has been done a bunch of times that proves that to master something you must first reach 10,000 hours. This rule has been tested on multiple people that have proved themselves some of the greatest in their craft, including the Beatles, Bill Joy, Bill Gates, Michael Phelps, etc.
So I guess they weren't playing when they said "practice makes perfect"
With all that said, some things I've been brainstorming:
Commoners
Outsiders/ Outliers
Gorilla Warefare
